The Book of Prayer - كتاب الصلاة.
The Timings for Prayer
|Topic/Issue:||1015 - Begining of Isha Time|
|Imam Malik,Imam Shafi||It is the disappearance of the red evening twilight||Narration An-Numan ibn Bashir|
|Imam Abu Hanifa||It is the disappearance of the white twilight that comes after the redness||Abu Hanifa preferred his opinion on the basis of what is established about delaying isha and the recommendation for delaying it in the words "If I had not feared
hardship for my umma, I would have delayed this prayer up to midnight"|
|The reason for their disagreement over this issue stems from the equivocality of the term "shafaq" in the Arabic language. Just as fajr (morning) is of two kinds, so is shafaq: red and white.
There is no disagreement among them that it is established from the tradition of Burayda (See Evidence 1) and the tradition about the of Jibril that he offered the night prayer on the first day at the disappearance of the shafaq|
